Pinkalicious Birthday Party

It all started with this book. Pinkalicious! This is one of Bear's favorite books. Its actually really cute and little girls love it. This year for her birthday she wanted to have a tea party but wanted it to be a "Pinkalicious Tea Party." So the planning began...

For those of you who don't know Pinkalicious is all about a little girl that eats pink cupcakes and turns pink. Having said that the most important thing  Bear wanted was PINK PINK PINK. I think I might have taken this a little too literal. Read on and you will find out.The invitation to the Pinkalicious Party. Of course PINK.

The tea party was outside in the backyard. I made a PINK Banner for her with her name on it. She loved it!
The birthday girl chair. We actually use this chair cover every year for her birthday. It worked out this year that it was PINK and had PINK cupcakes on it. Perfect!
The table scape.

With a little fabric and heat-n-bond I made this table runner. My daughter liked it too. The cupcakes looked way cuter in person.
The place setting. I did these flower napkins for for my friends bridal shower and my daughter wanted me to do them for her too. Every little girl had a special place setting with her name on it.

The PINK flowers.
Now for the Pinkalicious Party food. This is where I went a little overboard but I thought it worked out spectacular. I know some of you may think I went a little crazy but hey it was a Pinkalicious Party.
Pink Rice
Pink Popcorn
PINK Strawberry Cream Cheese and Jelly sandwiches.
PINK hummus with pita slices. The hummus was beets and white beans. So yummy. I might have to make this again. This was probably the only healthy food at the party
PINK fruit dip. Made pink with jello powder. No I didn't use food coloring for everything.
PINK Pasta. Okay yes I did use a little food coloring for this.
PINK deviled eggs. I soaked the cooked egg whites in beet juice. Another somewhat healthy food.
Even the tea was PINK. I made PINK chia tea.
The Pinkalicious cake.
Me and my girl in our PINK dresses. I just wore this dress in a wedding and my daughter wanted me to wear it to her party but she also asked me to make her a twin dress. This I have to admit was a little embarrassing when parents came and dropped off their kids. But it was my daughter's idea and I went along with it. At least I got a second use out of this dress.
I'm not one of those moms that likes to do games at parties. If the kids want me too I'll do it but since my daughter doesn't really like them it works out great! We usually end up doing a craft at her parties. This year we made Shrink-dink tea pot magnets. This was a big hit with the Pinkalicious girls.Loriella blowing out her candles. I love that Luke is trying to help her out in the backround.

Instead of party bags I decided to do favors this year. I rolled up PINK paper into these cones. They were filled with PINK marshmallows that I had dipped in chocolate and then pink sprinkles to look like the cupcakes from the Pinkalicious book. I also tied a little PINK tea bag on the side of it.

I think this was probably one of my favorite parties that I have done for my daughter. It was so girly and perfect for her.

Total cost of this party was $113

Bordem Chart

A week into summer when my son announced in these exact words,

I knew it was going to be a long summer. I didn't have the slightest idea of what I was going to do for them the all summer long. I didn't want them watching TV all day and you can only go to the park so many times. I wanted to make everyday a little fun.
The solution to my problem.....
COOL SUMMER FUN!
I made this little ice cream calender for them. I saw this idea somewhere online and loved it. In every cone pocket there is a little something special that we are doing on that day. Sometimes its simple. Sometimes its not so simple. It could be anything from a craft to a field trip to an experiment to cooking etc..... They get so excited everyday to see what we are doing. I love it.
Some of the fun so far has included making their own batch of Kool-aid playdough. We also have made Birdseed Cookies. The list really could go on and on. Lets hope this keeps them busy!
We have done so much. I love this thing. Its been funny how the kids don't let me forget about the our daily ice cream cone adventure.

A Bridal Shower Brunch

My really good friend is getting married in a couple of weeks. I cant believe the day is almost here. Being the Matron of Honor of course I needed to throw her a bridal shower and for her, I wanted to make it fabulous! I decided to do a Bridal Shower Brunch.
I wanted to share it with you all not to toot my own horn but it really did turn out so nice and cute. I was really impressed with myself. Okay yea.....its to toot my own horn. LOL

The past few days the weather man has been teasing me saying it was going to rain. I didn't have a plan B and we were eating outside. Luckily God was on my side and the weather was beautiful. Perfect!

Here was out outside view

The table scape.Table setting.

I didn't have enough hanging lanterns so I got this idea from the Martha Stewart's website and made these pom poms for the center of the tents.
The favors. These were part of the table scape but the guest also got to take them home as favors. I saw this idea one time at a dentist office of all places and decided to make them. They are pens covered in floral tape and put in a pot of black beans (dirt). I also made little favor tags that said "Christi's Bridal Shower."
I made the cake to be a bride. I really liked the way it turned out. I know I know the bride is blonde but that didn't even cross my mind when I bought her. Oh well. She's still a bride right?
There was a lot of yummy food at the brunch. Everyone loved scarfing it down.
I made this banner for Christi and Barry. I liked the way it turned out too.
Yummy food. Notice the juices even had the color scheme going on. Can you tell Christi's wedding colors are pink and orange. We played fun games at the shower. Including Bridal Bingo and The Newlywed Game. For the Newlywed game I video taped and interviewed Barry. The questions were all about Christi. It was definitely the favorite game.
All and all it was good times. I am so blessed to have a friend like Christi and seeing her as happy as she is makes me so excited for her. I such a blast doing this party but most importantly I wanted to make this special for her and I'm glad it was. She deserves it!

Teacher Appreciation Week

This past week was Teacher Appreciation Week. I love Bear's teacher this year. She is absolutely amazing with the kids and I appreciate all she does for her class. I wanted to do something special for her so I made this door sign for her.

We drove to the school at night and put it on her door. She was so so surprised and really loved it!

The Best Twilight Party Ever!

Let me just start off by saying you will never see a Twilight Party better than this one. This was the Best Twilight Party EVER!!

My friend and I being the true Twilight Fans that we are had an idea a couple of months ago of getting some girlfriends together and having a Twilight Movie Night. One thing led to another and this thing just ended up exploding into a full blown Twilight Party Extravaganza. We have literally worked on this party for weeks and weeks.
Our Invitation that we sent out.

We made this a Black, White & Red semi-formal event to make the evening especially dazzling.
Our Entrance to the "Cullen House." We were really happy with the way this turned out. Its exactly how we had imagined it minus the carved out apples that we were going to put tea lights in. It was just too windy for that. Here are the signs on the door. Too cute. Right?
When you walked in the first thing to see was our Twilight Tribute to each Book. Each Shelf had the book, a symbol for the book and a quote.
Our Twilight and New Moon Tribute.
Our Tribute to Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. Our Tribute to Edward and Bella for just being Edward and Bella.
We had Raviolis that night with bread sticks inspired from Edward and Bellas first non official date. I made a RED VELVET wedding cake for Edward and Bella.
My friends hubby went to Bella Winery and picked up a couple bottles of Bella Wine for our Party. We had Baseball Salt and Pepper Shakers because this was one of the best scenes of the movie. This was our Fondue Table. I used the wrong chocolate for the fondue so it wasn't exactly as elegant as I thought it was going to be. Still tasted good though.

Our T-shirt wall. We also had a T-shirt Pole but didn't get a pic of it.

Our Special Pose for Edward. We both look a little awkward but we were Edward's Bella's for the night.

Lindsey made this AMAZING Twilight Jeopardy Game.
We had 3 different Teams. The team names that our friends came up with were Pattinson Power, The Forkers & The Bloodsuckers .
My friend was the game show host.

Our Prize Basket for the winning Team.
I filled the basket with items that represented things from the Twilight Saga books and then attached quotes to go with each item.
A few examples of the quotes
Eclipse Gum - “The clouds I can handle. But I can’t fight with an eclipse.” - Jacob
Dollar Store Eternity Perfume - "I promise to love you everyday of forever - Every single day of forever.” -Edward
A Baseball - “ Vampires like baseball?”- Bella
Hot & Cold Icepack - "Fire and ice, somehow existing together without destroying each other. More proof that I belonged with him.”- Bella
A doll - “Her tiny face was so absolutely perfect that it stunned me. She was even more beautiful than her father. Unbelievable. Impossible.” -Bella
We didn't end up getting a group photo but we did get this photo of everyones shoes. We ended our evening with of course the movie Twilight.
Before everyone left they received a Twilight Favor. Which was especially made by friend.
Didn't she make them look so cute. Each CD had the Twilight Soundtrack and also non other than the beautiful Rob Pattinson Songs.
Now that our party is over this is what we all have to look forward to. The countdown till New Moon.

Chore Chart

I have been wanting to get a Chore Chart for the kids for a while now. We have these Responsibility Charts that they have been doing for a while now but they are getting tired of putting their magnet ups all the time and usually don't end up doing it. I couldn't find anything that I liked so I decided to make one. Here it is. I took pictures of the chores because of the boys not being able to read yet. I am going to rotate the cards so that they don't have the same chores every week. The kids used it last night and the system seems to work. I hope they continue to like it.

Valentine's From Me to Him

This year for Valentines Day. I wanted to do something special for my Love. I didn't want to do the usual buy him a gift thing. I wanted to make it. But what do you make your husband. This is what I ended up doing. I saw this idea online and thought it was perfect!I took a deck of cards and put down all the reasons why I love him. It was a fun project to do.
Here are a few of the reasons why I love my hubby. He loved it!
